L. Brunner, J. Brunner & H. G. Lee [eds.] (2011)

Ph. Bouchet, H. Le Guyader & O. Pascal [eds.] (2011)
[with 7 contributions on fossil, land and marine Mollusca]
The islands of the Pacific are renowned for the high levels of endemism of, and threats to, their unique faunas and floras. Espiritu Santo, affectionately known simply as Santo, is an island of superlatives: the largest and highest in Vanuatu, Santo is an extraordinary geographical and cultural microcosm, combining reefs, caves, mountains, satellite islands, and a history of human habitation going back 3,000 years. In the spirit of famous voyages of discovery of the past, the Santo 2006 expedition brought together over 150 scientists, volunteers and students originating from 25 countries. With contributions by more than 100 authors, the book is a lavishly illustrated homage to the biodiversity of this “planet-island”.

The Pleistocene Marine Gastropods of Rhodos Island (Greece)

Order-W13071
!
C. Chirli & U. Linse (2011)
In this volume the authors describe 385 species of Pleistocene gastropod shells from the Island of Rhodes. This is the most comprehensive study ever dedicated to the Pleistocene Mollusca of the Mediterranean Sea, one hundred years after Serafino Cerulli Irelli’s (1873-1946) classical study of the “Fauna Malacologica Mariana” (1907-1916), which refers to the Pleistocene deposits of the Monte Mario near Rome. The book aims to contribute to a better understanding of the migration and extinction processes of marine species in the Pleistocene Mediterranean Sea.
